Choose a dataset in the library, configure a report, and save a draft.

How to create and configure a report

Start with an accessible dataset and a question to answer, such as how revenue changed by month.

1. Open the creation form

In your workspace and team, go to Library, select Create, then Report. The Create report action in the creation menu also opens this form in the library. Enter a name, optionally a description, and choose an available dataset. If none are listed, you cannot continue; check your dataset access.

Continue opens the builder for that dataset. This navigation does not create a report: until you save, it is only a new configuration. Opening the new-report page without a dataset does not load the builder.

2. Configure fields and presentation

In the settings panel, select dimensions for grouping (such as month) and measures for calculations (such as revenue). Check the date granularity; you can also select a table mode and chart settings in the builder. Changes refresh the preview, but seeing data does not mean the report has been saved. See dimensions and measures and visualizations.

You can apply filters and comparisons while exploring the current result. Do not assume these conditions will be saved in a new draft: the creation form does not submit them. See filters and segments.

3. Save the draft

Select Save in the builder. A successful creation opens the report page; the draft appears in the library and is visible only to its owner. The creation request includes the name, description, dataset, selected dimensions and measures, table mode (including pivot configuration), chart type, and chart date field and granularity. Filters, comparisons, and other current-view settings are not included in this form. Check the saved fields after the report opens; do not treat unconfirmed settings as persisted.

Creation requires sign-in and access to the team, workspace, dataset, and selected fields; the server and storage enforce write permissions. A visible button does not guarantee a successful save under restricted permissions. Saving a draft does not automatically publish or share it.

If something goes wrong

If no datasets are listed or a field cannot be selected, check access and contact your administrator; see troubleshooting data access. If Save does not return a confirmation, check the library first rather than submitting again: the write might have succeeded before confirmation failed. For empty or unexpected results, see troubleshooting report results.

See Library and collections for navigating to the draft.
