How to prepare a dataset for analytics

A dataset defines the fields available for analytics and supplies reports, widgets, and dashboards.

What you will achieve

You will choose the right dataset and confirm that your role can use the dimensions and measures you need.

1. Choose the data source

Open the datasets section and find a dataset by its name and purpose. Do not use a dataset unless team access is confirmed.

2. Check the fields

Confirm that the question has dimensions for grouping and measures for calculation. Available fields can differ by role.

3. Create a report from the dataset

Use the selected dataset in the report editor, beginning with a small number of fields and one filter.

If something goes wrong

Check workspace/team permissions and contact an administrator if a dataset or field is not visible.
