Narrow data, verify the context, and keep the values you need.

How to configure report filters and segments
A filter narrows report data. Start with one clear check instead of a long set of conditions.
What you will achieve
You will narrow a report to the required period or segment and explain why it displays those values.
1. Choose a field and condition
Add a field that answers the question, such as date, region, or status. Then apply one condition and inspect the result.
2. Verify the scope
A filter applies to the current report and uses only fields from its dataset. Role permissions can hide some fields or values.
3. Add conditions gradually
After every new condition, compare row counts and key measures. If the result becomes empty, temporarily remove the latest condition.
If something goes wrong
Check the period, field type, and condition values. To compare another slice, create a separate segment rather than changing a saved base filter without checking it.
Next step
Read dimensions and measures to build a correct table or visualization.
